Kiribati Fish Ltd is located in the island nation of Kiribati (KIRR-i-bas) in the central tropical Pacific Ocean. Kiribati is an independent republic and a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, part of the region of the Pacific islands known as Micronesia, and one of the world's least developed countries.

Kiribati has an estimated population of 100,000 and an estimated unemployment rate of 80%. Employment is found in the government sector or in fishing, where a portion of the catch is sold locally. Kiribati has the largest Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the South Pacific, and fishing is its major natural resource. Until recently, this vast resource has benefited fishing vessels primarily from Asia, Europe, and the United States.

Kiribati Fish Ltd is a joint venture with the Kiribati government, Shanghai Deep Sea Fishery and Golden Ocean Fish Ltd.
